Talent & Careers at NO.9
creative technologists, producers, AV, real-time devs and studio roles. Small teams, fast prototypes, proper crediting. Apply—or join the roster.
Step 1
Understand Our Vision
NO.9 is where code, light and sound become spaces the public can walk into. Skim our Programmes and Articles, peek at the Build Diary, and picture how your practice fits—exhibitions, immersive rooms, labs, residencies. Clear ideas, tidy setups and curiosity go a long way here.
Step 2
Prepare Your work
Share three links max: a tight 30–60s reel, a repo or patch for code, and a one-pager for installations (tools, footprint, power, risks). Add 3–5 stills at 1920px and any press or documentation that shows the piece in context. Unfinished is fine—send the strongest slice.
Step 3
Craft Your Submission
Keep it human and precise: name, role family (creative / technical / production / studio), location and availability, day-rate or salary range, plus a 100-word bio. Include a 50-word idea you’d love to test at NO.9 and note any support you’d need (kit, load-in, access).
Step 4
Submit with Confidence
We reply within 7–10 working days. Typical flow: a 15-minute hello call → a quick show-and-tell or small task → a paid build day on site. If timing isn’t right, we’ll keep you on the roster and reach out when a brief fits. We credit properly and handle data with care.
Where You Fit at NO.9
Our projects explore the intersection of art and engineering. A typical build begins as a sketch and culminates in a room you can walk into—projection mapped, sensors calibrated, sound controlled. Small cross-disciplinary teams move ideas through research, prototyping, installation, and public hours, documenting each step so the learning carries over to the next show. We value clear thinking, tidy rigs, sensible safety, and work that welcomes the audience rather than talking over them. You won’t be confined to a single lane. Creative, Technical, Production, and Studio & Partnerships overlap intentionally; people rotate between them as projects require. Freelancers and studios work alongside staff, credits are shared, and the process of filming/photos is standard, so your contribution is visible. If you are someone who can explain a complex setup briefly and get a clean test running swiftly, you’ll feel at home here.

Creative
Digital art & interaction
Motion/generative designers and artists who think spatially. You sketch ideas clearly, prototype fast and can collaborate with engineers to land work in the room—not just on the screen.

Technical
Real-time & systems
TouchDesigner, Unreal/Unity, GLSL, DMX, sensors, networking. You make pipelines stable, optimise performance and keep latency low so interaction feels immediate.

Production
Making it real
Producers, fabricators, installers and AV techs who turn a plan into a safe, reliable show. You love neat cables, clear schedules and opening nights that feel effortless.

Studio & Partnerships
Community & growth
Comms, community, partnerships and front-of-house. You shape the audience journey, look after collaborators and help good work reach the right people.
Become a Part of Our Creative Journey
Join us for showcases, open labs and behind-the-scenes sessions that reveal how our projects come together. Whether you build tools, make images or keep productions running, NO.9 is a springboard: meet the team, learn the rig, and see where your practice fits.
Unleash Your Creativity at NO.9
At NO.9, community isn’t a slogan—it’s the way we work. We pair artists with engineers, share patch notes, and invite the public into the process. Bring a clear idea or a rough question; we’ll help you shape it into a piece people can walk into.
We run small workshops and hands-on labs throughout the year. Expect practical sessions on real-time graphics, projection, sensors and spatial audio—plus the less glamorous bits like power, safety and load-in. You’ll leave with new skills and real contacts.
Our events calendar includes previews, talks and open studio nights. It’s a good way to meet collaborators, test ideas in front of an audience, and learn how we credit, document and support the work. Emerging or established, you’re welcome here.
